Graphic Designer (Brand & Retail Experience)
Department: Marketing
Reports To: Marketing Director
Location: Kansas City | Hybrid (In-Office + Remote)

Position Overview
Balls Food Stores, including Hen House, Sun Fresh, Price Chopper, Harry's, and Tippin's
Pies, is seeking an ambitious creative eager to grow quickly and help evolve established
retail brands.
We're looking for someone with experience and passion for branding, rebrands, retail
environments, design systems, and CPG storytelling.
You have a sharp eye for clarity and cohesion. You instinctively simplify and refine, building
strong brand voices while creating efficient, scalable design solutions across multiple
touchpoints.
This is not simply a production role. This designer will help lead a visual reset across in-store
environments, digital platforms, advertising, and campaign work with room to grow into
increased creative leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Brand & Retail Evolution
● Support and contribute to rebrand initiatives across multiple store banners
● Help refine and modernize visual identity systems
● Ensure brand cohesion across physical and digital touchpoints
● Identify opportunities to streamline creative for clarity and efficiency
Signage & In-Store Experience
● Lead creation and modernization of in-store signage packages
● Develop scalable, repeatable systems that can be implemented company-wide
● Elevate typography, hierarchy, and visual consistency across locations
● Balance creative direction with operational practicality
Digital & Weekly Advertising
● Reimagine and modernize digital-first weekly ad design
● Create compelling assets for email, website, social, and paid advertising
● Maintain brand distinction across multiple banners while improving overall cohesion
● Ensure creative is optimized for both performance and presentation
Campaign & Creative Development
● Support multi-faceted marketing campaigns across print and digital platforms
● Contribute proactive creative concepts
● Collaborate with marketing, merchandising, and leadership teams
● Help introduce new creative tools, templates, and brand assets that support
long-term growth
Photography & Video Direction
● Ideal candidate has experience in photography and/or videography
● Ability to execute visual storytelling when needed
● Or confidently direct external creative partners
● Maintain brand consistency across photo and video assets
Vendor & Production Coordination
● Manage print bids for special projects as needed
● Coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery
● Work with agency and external partners for website uploads and digital asset
management

Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Visual Arts, or related field (or equivalent
experience)
● 2-5+ years of design experience preferred but not required (retail, CPG, or brand
environment experience is a plus)
● Strong portfolio demonstrating branding, campaign, retail, or digital work
● Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
● Experience designing for digital platforms (email, web, paid media, social)
● Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
● Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Skills
● Experience with rebrands or brand refresh initiatives
● Retail or grocery marketing experience
● Photography and/or videography background
● Experience directing creative vendors or partners
● Knowledge of print production best practices

Work Environment
Hybrid schedule based in Kansas City.
This role includes in-office collaboration for retail and campaign initiatives, along with
remote flexibility for focused creative work.
Fast-paced marketing environment with cross-functional collaboration.
