Key Responsibilities:
- Prescription Processing & Technical Support: Responsible for accurately supporting the preparation and processing of prescriptions, including data entry, medication preparation, labeling, and insurance claim coordination, while ensuring compliance with all pharmacy regulations and safety standards.
- Customer Service & Patient Support: Provides exceptional customer service by assisting patients with prescription pick-up, answering non-clinical questions, managing transactions, and ensuring a positive, respectful, and confidential experience for every customer.
- Pharmacy Operations & Inventory Coordination: Supports daily pharmacy operations by maintaining inventory, stocking medications, monitoring for outdated products, and ensuring the department remains organized, clean, and fully functional.
- Compliance, Communication & Team Collaboration: Works collaboratively with pharmacists and team members to ensure adherence to company policies, HIPAA regulations, and safety standards, while communicating effectively and escalating clinical questions appropriately.
Essential Job Duties:
- Answering telephone and handling questions that do not require a pharmacist's expertise
- Receiving written prescriptions or telephoned refill requests
- Gathering information to prepare prescriptions (name, DOB, address, phone, allergies, insurance info)
- Entering data into the computer for filling prescriptions
- Helping pharmacists prepare prescriptions by counting or pouring medications correctly,
- labeling containers, and pricing prescriptions
- Keeping pharmacy department supplies well stocked and ordered
- Placing completed prescriptions in pick-up area
- Ordering, receiving, and stocking the shelves with medications when they arrive from suppliers
- Preparing insurance claims and verifying payments
- Helping patients find OTC medications, but not recommending OTC products
- Ringing purchases in cash register and recording prescriptions in electronic signature log
- Performing housekeeping duties within the pharmacy (vacuum weekly, empty trash when needed, etc.)
- Checking shelves routinely for outdated medications
- Processing outdated medications and preparing them for return to supplier
- Requesting the pharmacist to counsel the patient when picking up a new prescription
- Being courteous and friendly to all customers
- Answering only non-judgmental questions and referring the patient to the pharmacist concerning all other question and concerns that require clinical expertise
- Making announcements over the PA about any promotions in the pharmacy
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
- Required: Pharmacy technician license in good standing with appropriate state board of pharmacy
- Required: Licensure in both Missouri and Kansas is necessary for continued placement in the position and preferred for initial hire
- Required: Ability and willingness to travel between pharmacy locations in Missouri and Kansas as scheduled, including reliable transportation and flexibility to support staffing needs across multiple sites
- Preferred: Previous retail pharmacy experience
